2021 Traditional Camp Staff

  • Adele Hensley

    This is Adele's first summer at camp. I’m a junior at St Olaf College and will be a Mathematics and Economics double major with a Finance Emphasis and a Statistics and Data Science Concentration. My dream job is to be a Financial Analyst or Owner/Manager of my own company. I love to read, watch movies, go thrift shopping, listen to records, and walk my dog! He’s a Great Dane named Tank! My favorite part of summer camp is all of the learning opportunities that you wouldn’t necessarily be exposed to in everyday life; This and the long lasting memories and friendships you build with campers and counselors alike are some of the best parts about camp!
  • Ben Albanese

    This is Ben’s first year as a counselor but he was a camper at HPR for a long time. He will be co-leading tennis! He goes to Mahtomedi High School and loves fishing, golfing, playing soccer, drawing, and working out. His favorite thing about HPR is the all camp games and he is most excited to make new friends this summer!
  • Bridget Blaney

    This will be Bridget’s first year at camp. She will co-leading the sports field area. She will be a first-year student at Notre Dame this fall studying biology. She loves to do anything active (running, hammocking, visiting new places and playing soccer). She can’t wait to get all the fun songs stuck in her head and meet the other counselors in person. She is also excited to spend time with her campers outdoors!
  • Carrie Johnson

    This is Carrie’s first year working at camp and she will be leading the Explore/Drama/Culture area. Next fall, she will be attending North Dakota State University for retail merchandising. She enjoys theatre, singing, and sewing. Her favorite part of camp is being outside all summer + enjoying the nice weather. She is most excited for the camp activities that she grew up with.
  • Emma White

    This is Emma’s first year at camp and she will be a Co-Horse Director. She attends Dordt University and is studying nursing. Her dream job is to be a midwife or play with animals all day. She loves riding horses, fostering dogs, and hanging out with her friends and family. Her favorite part about summer camp is the friendships and memories made throughout the summer. She is most excited about making those memories and to teach kids about horses.
  • Eric Wolsfeld

    This is Eric's first summer as a counselor but was a past mini camper. Eric is a senior at Hill Murray and will be attending Santa Clara University in the Fall to pursue a double major in finance and neuroscience. I love watching sports, going exploring with friends, playing tennis, skiing and listening to music. I'm most excited to meet my campers and to get to know everyone at camp.
  • Ethan Midbrod

    his is Ethan’s first year at camp. He studies Computer Science and Music at Saint Johns University. He loves guitar, video games, skateboarding, and cooking. His favorite part about camp is being OUTSIDE! He is so excited to be leading the Explore/Drama/Culture area at camp.
  • Grace Coughlin

    This is Grace’s first year at camp and she is the co-lead of Science/STEM. She just finished her first year of teaching and she hopes to go to law school with a goal of becoming a lawyer for environmental education! Her hobbies include: making Spotify playlists, reading, long-boarding, being a barista, and photography. Her favorite thing about camp is the camaraderie of new friendships and the healthy environment to grow and have fun exploring new things one might not normally experience. She is most excited to get to know her small groups throughout the week, each group brings something new and unique to the fold!
  • Hannah Schwenke

    This is Hannah’s first summer as a counselor at HPR, she was a wrangler in 2017. She is so excited to be a part of traditional camp and will be co-leading the outdoor education area. During the school year, she attends UW-Stout for computer networking and information technology. She hopes to do web programming when she graduates. Her favorite thing about HPR is the all camp games and she is most excited for Friday dress up.
  • John Schaefer

    This is John’s first year at HPR! He is co-leading team building and low ropes. He is majoring in Politics and Music Performance at Hillsdale College and is hoping to become a lawyer. His hobbies include: singing, listening to music, spike ball, boating and running! His favorite thing about camp is team games and sports and he is most excited to get to know the campers and counselors! His favorite thing to cook over a campfire is s’mores!
  • Kat Grannis

    Kat is excited to start her 3rd year on the HPR stage as a traditional counselor. This year she is going to be bringing a whole new morning activity, Outdoor Ed, to camp! She just finished up her second year at St. Olaf studying environmental studies. Naturally, her dream job is to be a witch that lives in the woods. Her favorite thing about HPR are the Friday dress up days, she always goes ALL OUT! She is most excited to be able to have fun outside again, its been too long!
  • Kate Smith

    This is Kate’s first year as a counselor at HPR but she was a camper for 5 years. She will be attending the University of Minnesota in the Fall to study Biology. Her dream job is to be a pediatric oncologist. Her hobbies include: baking, running, biking, spending time with friends and family. She loves how much fun you have every day at HPR, no matter what you are doing. She is most excited for dress-up Fridays and to meet all the campers.
  • Lauren Friedrichs

    This is Lauren’s first year at camp. She will be leading Science. She will be a junior at Iowa State University where she studies Chemical Engineering and Leadership Studies. Her hobbies include: hiking, baking/cooking, exercising, and traveling. Her favorite thing about camp is camp games and she is most excited to dress up on Fridays.
  • Madi Kulzer

    This is Madi’s first year at camp. She attends Gustavus Adolphus College and is a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology double major. Her dream job would be Doctors without Borders or be an ice cream test taster. Her hobbies include: baking, yoga, traveling, swimming and skiing. Her favorite thing about HPR is meeting new people and she is most excited to be outside!
  • Matt Brown

    Matt is back for year 4 and his 2nd summer as the Archery Lead. He is super excited to get back on the range and help everyone become the best archer they can be! He is a licensed elementary teacher, but is open to see what the world brings to him! When he isn’t at camp, he loves to put on his rollerblades, pop in his headphones, and cruise around town! He is drawn to the water so on a hot summer day you can likely find him at the beach or out on a water with his friends. He is also an avid thrifter; he loves finding used clothes and giving them a new life! His favorite thing about HPR is bonding with his small group and finding creative twists to our afternoon activities. There is no limit to creativity and imagination! He is pumped for TOC this year!
  • Maria Franks

    This is Maria’s first year at camp. She will be working as the Co-Horse Director. She is from Roseville, Minnesota and is currently at North Dakota State University studying Equine Science. Her hobbies include: horse back riding, reading, hanging out with friends, and spending time with family. Her favorite thing about camp is being outside and she can’t wait to spend time with the kids! She loves cooking s’mores over the fire!
  • Megan Muetzel

    This is Megan’s first year at camp. She just finished her sophomore year at St. Ben’s and is studying Elementary Education. Her dream job is to become a second grade teacher. Her favorite part of summer camp is creating amazing relationships with everyone and she can’t wait to be outside all day. She loves to cook pies over the campfire!
  • Mitch Banken

    Mitch (right) is back for his 3rd year at camp and 2nd year as the sports field area lead! Outside of camp, he loves sports, especially football which he played in in college until getting injured. Since then, he has grown interested in hunting and fishing. At the end of the summer, he will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a degree in Marketing and Sales. His favorite thing about HPR is the energy and he is most excited to bring the energy at morning flag!
  • Sadie Ball

    This is Sadie’s first year at camp and she will be leading canoeing! She will be a first-year student at Loyola Chicago this fall and she will major in biomedical engineering. Her hobbies include: running, reading, and hanging out with friends and family! Her favorite part of summer camp is how close everyone becomes, it doesn’t matter your background - we all come together and embrace our differences. She loves to cook a pizza sandwich over a campfire!
  • Sam Elleston

    This is Sam’s first year at camp. He will be leading Team Building. He studies Education and Teaching at the University of Minnesota Duluth. His hobbies include: basketball, running, frisbee golf, and chess. His favorite thing about camp is being outside all day and spending time with kids. He is most excited for big group games and he loves to cook burgers over the campfire.
  • Sam Gregg

    This is Sam’s first year at camp. He is a graduating senior at SAHS and will be attending the University of St. Thomas in the fall to study business and finance. His hobbies include: lifting, painting, playing sports, hiking, and canoeing. His favorite thing about camp is the atmosphere and he is most excited for canoeing!
  • Syd Scott

    This is Sydney’s second year working at HPR and she is super excited be in traditional co-leading archery! She is studying Nursing at the University of Tampa and her dream job is to travel the world and provide medical attention to those who need it. In her free time she enjoys doing crafts, photography, hiking, and playing the ukulele. Her favorite thing about HPR is making memories with amazing people and getting to laugh + have fun everyday. She is most excited to meet all the amazing camper sand play camp games like TOC.
  • Syd Stone

    This is Syd’s first year at camp and she is leading low ropes. She goes to Case Western Reserve University where she plays on the women’s soccer team and studies aerospace and mechanical engineering. Her dream job is to be either an astronaut or design roller coasters. One of her biggest passions is soccer but she also loves jet skiing, skiing, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite thing about HPR is meeting new people. She is most excited for the large camp games!
  • Reid Schlosser

    This is Reid's first summer as a counselor. He is a freshman at the University of MN in the Carlson School of Business. He basketball, canoeing, fishing and music. He is excited to follow in his big brother Chad's footsteps as a counselor at Hidden Pines. He can't wait to play games in the woods and play basketball with campers.

2021 Wranglers

  • Samantha Worm

    This is Samantha’s first year working at camp as a wrangler, but she was a camper for a long time! She will be a junior this fall at Stillwater Area High School. She likes to downhill ski, craft, and jump horses. Her favorite thing about HPR is the community around camp and all the fun activities that go on! She is most excited to meet the campers and get to know everyone. Finally, her favorite thing to make over a campfire is s’mores and pizza pies (make sure you bring her one of these after NCC one day!)
  • Isabella Huedella

    This is my first summer at camp. I am a senior at st. Croix prep in Stillwater and now I’m a graduate. I’m going to Riverfalls this fall and I’m going to studying equine science. My dream job is just to help any animal. I'm most looking forward to eating smores and being outside all summer.

2021 Maintenance Staff

  • Ryan Doerr

    This will Ryan's 3rd year at camp as the Maintenance Staff. Ryan loves doing just about anything outdoors. He would eventually like to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. He is looking forward to seeing everyone at camp, and learning something new!
