2019 Traditional Camp Staff

  • Alex Oberg

    This is Alex's second summer at HPR. He will be returning as a traditional counselor and co-leading our tennis program. He is currently a sophomore at St. Olaf College. His favorite hobby is spending time outdoors hiking, camping, canoeing and fishing. Alex is an EMT in the community. His favorite thing about HPR is being part of an amazing community of counselors, campers, and staff. He loves to wake up each morning and know that he will make a difference in the lives of the campers and fellow staff members.
  • Ally Gaede

    This is Ally's 2nd year at HPR and this summer she will be co-leading low ropes/team building. She is currently a sophomore at UW-Madison studying Communication Arts. Ally enjoys spending time with friends and family at the movies and theatre shows. Ally's favorite thing about camp is the way it makes her heart smile every day. Watching her campers grow and succeed in doing things that they never knew they could is really incredible. She is looking forward to another fun-filled and rewarding summer!!
  • Andy Bjerk

    Andy is returning for his second year as a traditional counselor. He will be a Co-Traditional Specialist. Andy is a junior at UMN majoring in communication studies. He's so excited to meet the whole staff, and get to spend the summer with his friends and all the campers.
  • Ashlynn Giossi

    This is Ashlynn's 4th summer on staff where she will be a Co-Traditional Specialist and counselor. She will be starting her 3rd year at UW - Eau Claire majoring in Special Education. Some of her favorite things are spending time with family, going to the reading and playing soccer. Ashlynn spent time in Italy recently for school. Her favorite thing about camp is the inviting, warm atmosphere it has! By the end of every summer, everyone feels like family. She is looking forward to her chaco tan, meeting new campers and staff. She loves making friendship bracelets, all-camp games, and working on the HPR Play.
  • Bridget Hoffman

    Bridget will be returning this year for her second summer at HPR as a traditional camp counselor and first year as a co-area lead at Archery. She is a junior at Boston College studying Political Science and Islamic Civilizations and Society. Bridget is currently spending a semester abroad in Jerusalem studying Arabic. She loves playing hockey, running and studying languages. Her favorite parts about camp are making memories and connections with campers and staff and theme Fridays! Bridget is really looking forward to co-leading archery, dancing at morning drop-off, and, of course, T.O.C!
  • Bridget "B" Smith

    Bridget "B" will be starting her 2nd year at HPR. This summer B will be the Co-Explore Lead. She is currently a sophomore at UW-Eau Claire studying middle/childhood education, with a minor in social studies. She absolutely loves reading, being outside, listening to music, and singing. Her favorite parts of camp are the connections she makes with campers, the driveway dance parties, dress up Fridays, and the lifelong friendships she has made and will make with her fellow counselors.
  • Emily Weiss

    Former camper Emily, will be joining the HPR staff this summer as the Co-Canoeing lead. She is currently a freshman at the University of Minnesota studying biology with the hopes of eventually going to dental school. Emily loves to read, hangout with friends and family and travel. She is so excited to be a part of all the amazing experiences everyone talks about and. She is looking forward to meeting all of the campers!
  • Emma Deutsch

    Emma's first year at HPR will have her as the Co-Horse Director. She is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, double majoring in meat animal and equine science. Emma loves skiing and tubing in the winter. During the summer she enjoys running, beach volleyball and swimming. She is excited to meet everyone, and enjoy an amazing summer full of fun and games!
  • Grace Baker

    This is Grace's first year at HPR. She will be the traditional Co-Area lead for team building/low ropes. This is her second year at the College of St. Benedict studying Integrative Science, with the hopes of eventually becoming an OB/GYN. Grace is track and field athlete specializing in hurdles. She really enjoys painting. What excites her most about this summer is thinking about meeting all the campers, Friday theme days, and morning drop-off dance parties.
  • Hailey Willius

    Hailey will be the Co-Arts & Crafts area lead for Traditional camp. She is currently a freshman at Iowa State University studying Animal Ecology with a possible minor in Horticulture. She is beyond excited for summer to come. Hailey loves being outdoors, canoeing, hiking and gardening. She is so excited to be able to work at a place she loved so much as a kid and can't wait to see how much the campers grow over this summer.
  • Jake Drehmel

    Jake will be starting his first year at HPR as a the Co- Science/STEM lead counselor. Jake is currently getting his Masters in Science Education at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and he just accepted a Chemistry teaching position at Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights. Jake likes to play tennis, golf, and slow-pitch softball. He's really excited to meet everyone and have the greatest summer ever.
  • Kaitlin McCurdy

    This is Kaitlin's first year at camp and she will be the Co-Canoe Area lead counselor. She currently attends Creighton University in Omaha where she is studying Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice Policy. Kaitlin spends her free time playing volleyball and volunteering at Philanthropy with Kids in Omaha. Her favorite thing about HPR is how welcoming everyone is. Kaitlin is excited to experience the enthusiasm of camp.
  • Kate Bratvold

    This will be Kate's 3rd year on staff at HPR! This summer she will be the Co-Arts & Crafts area lead and traditional counselor. Kate is a freshman at the University of St. Thomas studying psychology and environmental education. Some of her favorite things to do are snowboarding, rock climbing and camping. Her favorite things about HPR are working extended mornings, dancing on the driveway, and eating goodies at NCC. She is most excited for meeting all of the new staff and campers, being outside in the sun and Friday dress up days!
  • Kathryn "Kat" Grannis

    Former camper Kat will be joining the HPR staff this summer as the Co-Explore Area lead counselor for her first summer. This fall Kat will be starting her first year at St. Olaf College. She enjoys music, theater, and the environment. Her favorite thing about camp is the unique inclusive and carefree atmosphere it fosters. She's excited to make new amazing memories this summer!
  • Mitchell Banken

    Mitch will be bringing his sports expertise to HPR this summer as the Co-Sportsfield area lead. This is his second year at camp. Mitch is a marketing major at the University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire where he is on the football team as a fullback. He enjoys fishing, being outdoors and watching sports. His favorite thing about HPR is the energy and the “magic” that goes into everyday. This year he is most excited for getting things going at flag.

  • Matt Brown

    This will be Matt's 2nd summer at camp and he will be the Co-Archery area lead counselor. Matt is a junior at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse studying Early to Middle Childhood Education. Matt works at the day care on campus. He enjoys roller blading, playing board games and sports. His favorite thing about HPR is how every day brings new adventures and new stories. He can't wait to see what whacky stuff happens this summer. If he had to pick one thing he's most excited for it's T.O.C.
  • Nicole Ingram

    Nicole joins the HPR Staff as the Co-Tennis lead counselor for her first summer. She is wrapping up her freshman year at the University of Colorado-Boulder with a major in Integrative Physiology and a minor in Spanish with hopes of becoming a Physician's Assistant. A few of her favorite things to do are play and watch sports, spend time with friends and family and try new places to eat breakfast. Her favorite thing about HPR is the variety of activities provided to campers so that everyone can participate in something that interests them. For camp this summer she is most excited about meeting all of the counselors and campers and making it a great summer!
  • Noah Berger

    Co-Science/STEM Area Lead Noah, will be a first year counselor at HPR. He is a senior at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, where he is double majoring in biology and broad field science. He hopes to become a high school science teacher. In the summer he plays a lot of softball and baseball. He enjoys canoeing and kayaking. He is excited to work with kids and develop new relationships. He is eager to show kids that science is alive and breathing around us in the outdoors.
  • Paige Boner

    Veteran Co-Horse Director Paige, is back for her 3rd summer at HPR. Paige is a junior at St. Thomas studying fashion merchandising. Her hobbies include: singing, playing guitar, spending time with friends, exercising and fashion. Her favorite thing about HPR is the amount of fun she has every day, no matter what the weather is or how crazy the day is. There is always a time to smile and laugh at camp. She excited to meet the new staff, see her old pals, be outside every day, and see all the campers again.
  • Sophia Baker

    Sophia is excited to join the HPR crew for the first time this summer! She will be a Traditional Co-Sports lead counselor. Sophia will be graduating from Totino-Grace High School in May and will be attending Benedictine College in Kansas in the fall. She plans to major in Criminology with a minor In Political Science. Sophia loves to be outdoors and do anything active. She's excited to make this summer the best summer for the campers.

2019 Wranglers

  • Grace Gruba

    Grace is returning for her second year at HPR as a Wrangler. She currently a junior at Hill-Murray and loves to ski, hike, play board games, and spend time with friends! Her favorite parts of HPR are having lunch with the horse group, dress up Fridays and the horse group trip. She is excited to meet new counselors and have another legendary summer at HPR!!
  • Magnolia Podgorak

    This is Maggie's first year at HPR as a wrangler. She is currently a sophomore at Mahtomedi High School and also works at a yoga studio in Stillwater. Some of her hobbies include reading, long boarding, hanging with her family and friends, and of course riding her two horses. She super excited about meeting all the campers and counselors and finally getting to be apart of this awesome camp she has heard so much about.

2109 Maintenance Staff

  • Ryan Doerr

    This will Ryan's first year at camp as the Maintenance Staff. Ryan is a sophomore at Stillwater High School, and loves doing just about anything outdoors. He would eventually like to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. He is looking forward to meeting everyone at camp, and learning something new!
