Hidden Pines Ranch employs approximately 65 staff members each season for a variety of positions:

  • Counselors 
    • Work with children entering Kindergarten – 10th grade
    • 18+/minimum high school graduate by start of the camp season
    • Counselors interact with campers of all ages, but are primarily assigned in pairs to lead a group of campers within a grade-specific age range. Daily tasks include leading lessons and activities, facilitating group time, and assisting in tasks to clean and maintain camp grounds.
  • Co-Horse Directors
    • 18+/minimum high school graduate by start of the camp season
    • Horse care and/or riding experience required
    • Co-Horse Directors have a job similar to our counselor positions, but are primarily assigned to lead our horseback riding activities. 
  • Assistant Counselors
    • 16+ by the start of our camp season and entering 11th or 12th grade
    • Assistant Counselors rotate through our K/1 and Traditional programs, shadowing counselors and learning different roles at camp. 
    • Part-time position
  • ​Wranglers/Horse Assistants
    • 16+ by the start of our camp season and entering 11th grade or higher
    • Wranglers are responsible for caring for the horses at camp and assisting counselors with camper riding activities.
  • Maintenance
    • 16+ by the start of our camp season
    • Our maintenance staff take the lead on all things related to upkeep of our camp grounds. Typical duties include mowing the grass, repairing any equipment, and assisting with pre-camp set-up and post-camp clean-up for the season.
  • Office Admin
    • 18+ by the start of our camp season
    • The Office Admin is responsible for answering phone calls, responding to emails, coordinating with parents for early pick-up/late drop-off, and facilitating any offsite field trips.
  • Leadership Team
    • 18+ by the start of our camp season
    • At least two years of camp leadership experience OR experience in a related field required
    • The leadership team oversees camp operations during both the summer and off-season. They also support staff members in daily tasks, communicate with camper families, and serve as camper advocates.

General Staff Qualifications:

  • Desire and ability to work and play with children in an outdoor setting (prior experience working with children is strongly preferred) 
  • Ability to teach various activities​
  • Ability to put campers first
  • Character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and patience are all taken into consideration before hiring

Staff Orientation Week 

Specialized Area Orientation: Monday, June 1st 8:00am-4:00pm
Staff Kickoff: Tuesday, June 2nd 12:00pm-7:00pm 
Staff Orientation Day #1: Wednesday, June 3rd 8:00am-5:00pm
Staff Orientation Day #2: Thursday, June 4th 8:00am-5:00pm
Staff Orientation Day #3: Friday, June 5th 8:00am-5:00pm
Open House Event: Saturday, June 6th 9:00am-1:00pm
*Campers will visit camp from 10:00am-12:00pm to meet their counselors, pick up their t-shirts, and more.

Camp Dates & Regular Hours 

When camp is in session, standard staff hours are from 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. 
 
Mini Camp: Monday, June 8th – Friday, June 12th 
Session 1: Monday, June 15th – Friday, June 26th 
Session 2: Monday, June 29th – Friday, July 10th
*There is no camp on Friday, July 3rd. 
Session 3: Monday, July 13th – Friday, July 24th
Session 4: Monday, July 27th – Friday, August 7th
